The Poor is One of Us

The Poor is One of Us

Scripture References: Ruth 3:12-18, Ruth 4:1-12

From Series: "Bittersweet"

No one wakes up expecting trouble, but often, it seems to come looking for us, while we are going about our business and hoping for the best. And when these difficult times come, is it, "The loss of a loved one, relationship or job; disappointments or unfulfilled dreams?" We become sad or even bitter, like Naomi in the Bible, whose husband and two sons died, leaving her alone in a foreign land. She in fact named herself, “bitter”, why not? The sweetness she thought life was handling her had turned to bitterness, even those around her could taste it! Not only did Naomi lose her husband and two sons but her hope of survival was gone too. People must have thought, "Unless something extraordinary happens, like with Sarah, Abraham's wife, who gave birth in her old age, Naomi's case is hopeless!" And are we any different? When experiencing life’s troubles, we often expect that only something out of the ordinary can change the situation. Yet, through Naomi’s everyday life, relationships and conversations with people around her, God changed her story from bitter to sweet, and he still does so today. How can we too experience the extraordinariness of God in the ordinariness of life? This is what we will be talking about in "Bittersweet", our new sermon series from the book of Ruth, and we will love for you to join us starting this Sunday, October 23, 2022 as we learn how God does his extraordinary work in our lives using the ordinary rhythms of life! Join us this Sunday at 9:00 am. at The Jewel Aeida, 105, Hakeem Dickson Link Road, Elf Bus stop, Lekki, Lagos. Citykidz classes are available.
